In this series, we are analyzing 1,000,000 deals which were played on-line. These deals cover a wide range of level of play and were provided by Stephen Pickett with Bridge Browser.
I'm getting a bit desperate as we reach the 10th in this 12-month series.
This month, I ask you: What level do you think was most common for the final contract?
Next?
And after that?
Here is the breakdown of what level the final contract was for the 1,000,000 deals:
The most common level was the 3-level -- on nearly 1/3 of all deals.
Here are all the levels...
Level | # out of 1,000 deals |
---|---|
3 | 324949 |
4 | 279829 |
2 | 160743 |
5 | 85931 |
1 | 71489 |
6 | 57653 |
Passed Out | 15031 |
7 | 5284 |
I find two things interesting or maybe surprising: One, that there were more passouts than grand slams (probably not in the "expert game"), and Two, that there were more contracts on the 5-level than the 1-level (I was thinking there would be a lot of 1NT contracts). Relating to that second point, when the contract was on the 1-level, just more than 70% of them were indeed in 1NT--no surprise there.
