3. We always use Stayman with hands that are 5-4 in the majors (and invitational or better). Partner's 2NT is natural and roughly 15-18 HCP. We are going to guess to force to game here with lots of potential in the majors. We'll raise a major response to Stayman to game and use Smolen (if played) over a 3 response.
