With lots of entries, you can afford to waste one by laying down the ace first and then finessing for the J. Without that many entries, you should take an immediate finesse for the J. Missing 7 cards in the suit, it's very unlikely to find a singleton jack so you can get away with a first round finesse. You should finesse because the jack is likely to be with the hand that has 4 cards rather than the hand with three.
