DEFENSE HANDS AND INTERESTING BIDDING THEMES
In this series, Mike Lawrence covers the good stuff. First, he will put you in the auction where you will face some difficult scenarios and will learn how to solve these problems. Then, you will defend without any hint from the lesson title. You don’t get tipped off at the table about what type of defensive problem you’re facing, so you won’t get any help here either!
These are webinars 5-8 of the series.
You do not need to have watched 1-4 to follow along.
FEB 3 - PUPPET STAYMAN – WHY NOT? Sometimes new conventions can help solve issues. Other times, they’re not worth the tradeoffs. Learn why Mike thinks you shouldn’t add this popular gadget.
FEB 10 - TWO WAY CUEBIDS – WHY NOT? Ambiguous meanings create confusion. Learn why Mike wants you to adopt his method of game-forcing cuebids rather than the invitational plus method.
FEB 17 – No webinar.
FEB 24 - UNUSUAL NT – MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR IT. Unusual notrump isn’t just for a 2-level jump overcall. You can use it in balancing situations, bidding over game, and other times as well. This very useful call deserves more attention.
MAR 3 - HOMEWORK - ENCYCLOPEDIA. In book form and in a CD. This is a resource that many have but seldom use. Most people open it, scan to see if they are in it, and then put it down. There’s one very special section you should be aware of. Mike will show you which it is.
All webinars are 1hr lectures and 20-30m Q&A afterwards.
Mike Lawrence has more experience teaching bridge, writing about bridge, and playing bridge than 99% of bridge players. He’s taught in over twenty countries and almost every state. Mike tells it like it is with understandable clarity. You can’t be right all of the time but you can be right more often than you were a few months ago.
His classes include: Professionally produced lecture notes. A good sense of humor. A link to watch the recorded webinar emailed shortly after the Zoom session. Access to the recorded webinar as often as you wish.
