Roman Keycard Blackwood (RKCB) is one of the most important conventions you can play if you want to bid slams successfully. There's nothing more disheartening than being in a slam that goes down because the opponents take two aces (or, worse, the ace and king of trump).
Because RKCB is so useful, players often think that it is the ONLY reason to bid 4NT. That's not the case. 4NT can be useful as a "scrambling" bid to find the right spot or as a quantitative invitaitonal bid (asking partner to bid slam if he has a maximum). It's important to recognize those different situations. Remember: Keycard Blackwood means that you have agreed on a trump suit.
