News and articles about bridge

Greetings!

Welcome to all the new subscribers this month (at this price, it's easy to recruit).

No tournament reports this month, but please have a look at the second article in the new series where I take you through the convention card the Larry Cohen (simple) way.

Through the Convention Card
by Larry Cohen General Approach and 2C Opening Convention Card

This is Part 2 in a new series.

Last month, we explored 1NT openings. This month, using my "Keep It Simple" approach, we examine "General Approach" and "2C Openings."

Luxury Caribbean Bridge Cruises with Larry
Last chance -- March 24 Sailing Ship

Click here to read about a luxury Caribbean cruise with lectures by Larry every day. Designed for intermediate level players--I hope to see you or some of your friends on board.

I will be teaching (using VuGraph projection technology) every day, as well as hosting two duplicate games for our group.

Masterpoints
In honor of Paul Soloway Ryder Cup Team

Paul Soloway was one of the greatest players (and more importantly, human beings). I'll miss him. He was my teammate when the U.S. defeated Europe in the first Ryder Cup of Bridge in Dublin, Ireland.

At the top right of the back row I am standing next to Paul (wearing the jacket). In memory of Paul, the ACBL has attached his name to a most prestigious award. More in the following article.

Masterpoint Lists
Paul Soloway

Even though Paul would often win the most masterpoints in the year, he always scoffed at its importance. "Masterpoints are an attendance award," he would humbly tell me.

However, there is one masterpoint category that Paul respected:
PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Florida Seminars
1- and 2-day Florida bridge seminars FtMeyerslecture

This is busy teaching season in Florida.

I'm giving 1- and 2-day seminars throughout the state of Florida. If you (or any intermediate-level friends) are interested, please look at the cities and dates. I use Fred Gitelman's popular graphics (which will be familiar to any BBO players).
